topic Surface Array Odd Behaviour in Alias Forum

Hello there, the surface array tool could be very helpfull. Unfortunately it gives bad results when changing values or surface geometry.

Also, when working in an construction plane ortho view, the view resets with every change. It happens that your geometry totaly jumps out of the window. See attached ScreenCapture...

Am i doing something wrong or will this be fixed?

Kind regards...

Hi digiformer,

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I have confirmed this odd behavior, but want to clarify that the results are correct, but it just behaves strangely while it's calculating, correct? If you have a file that illustrates a bad result, it would be great if you could attach it.

Thanks.

Hello there, thank you for the reply.

hmm i remember that the first calculation always gave an expectable result. But then, when i started to fine-tune the array, the array blew up. So i had to undo the array and recreate it with the new guessed values.

I created an array of spheres on a twisted surface...

I'll see if I can put together a file.

Regards...

Finally found the time to get a video ready which shows what i mean.

Editing the array settings or the "mother-geometry" results often in unexpectable output.

At the end of the video you can see another problem i often have. When trying to axis-constraint-snap CVs while having a ContrPlane active, all the CVs snap directly to the point i use as snap object. But since i am using TopView for moving they should keep their Z-value. Often this leads to an AppCrash.

Kind Regards
