The issue is with exporting to stl as my 40mb .wire file when exporting to stl is of more than 1gb which when I am importing in netfabb giving me out of memory error.

ques 1 - How to reduce the size of stl as I am increasing tolerance still not much effect on file size.

How are you creating/exporting the STL?

What is the tolerance setting?

Are you using create wall thickness?

How many triangles in the STL data?

How about to let Netfabb do the conversion job? It opens tons of file formats.

How are you creating/exporting the STL?

selecting object - stitch - file - export rapid prototype - wall thickness 2.0 tolerance 0.0100 - export to stl.

there is more then 4900000 triangle data.

I would just open the wire file in Netfabb.

There are 2 things I would suggest...

1. set the tolerance to a higher number...maybe .1MM...that should reduce the triangle count...

2.Use the NURBS to Mesh tool...this will allow you to view/modify the mesh before export...if the mesh is too large, you can use the mesh cleanup->mesh reduce tool to reduce the number of triangles. Once you have the triangle count reduced...use the mesh offset tool to create the thickness...remember that the triangle count will more than double when you add thickness..

To export that mesh, select it and use the export rapid prototype tool. It wont regenerate a mesh...it will use the selected mesh...

Hello,

Please note that only paid versions of Netfabb open CAD formats.

Best regards,
