Currently variable bevels are not available in Alias...You could create a consistent bevel and then use the CV move + hull +slide to adjust the offsets of the vertices and achieve a variable radius. Using creasing and the Surface fillet tool you can apply a variable "radius" to the Subd. That is referred to as hybrid modeling...since all the Alias surface tools work with Subd limit surfaces.

´Hi Barry

Thank you for your advice

Unfortunately, you are not able to move a group of vertex diagonally if you dont select a whole hull or edge loop. (you cannot pick de double arrow that you get when pick all the vertex of the edge loop)

Any idea for this issue? I dont want to move any vertex individually. (i.e. I would like to select a group of colinear vertex and then, move then in a shear movement. not rotate, but shearing)

Inside of the Transform CV tool, you can slide hulls and edges loops in unison or partially.

Not really, Shinji Pons. You only can shear in this way if you select ALL the vertex in the hull. If you select less, you are not able to shear. Only can slide the selected vertes.

If you do not want to slide an entire edge use the proportional modification mode in the transform CV tool. You can select any number of CV's and slide with taper...be careful if you are working near a star point the directions can get altered since there are more than 4 choices for the slide direction.

Hi, Barry

Proportional modification doesnt seem to work with SubD vertex. Only seems to work with Cvs in NURBS.

Try it, please.

Regards

Hi Barry. Apologies

It works, but the problem comes from the different way of picking when you try to use proportional modification.

With NURBS, when you pick the first CV, is displayed for blue arrows that you manage for increase the number of CVs selected.

However, in Subdivision, when you tray to use the same tool (proportional modification) and you select one VERTEX you DONT GET ANY BLUE ARROW. Instead, a little circle is highlighted. Then, you cand add VERTEX holding SHIFT an LMB, but this is not obvious.

Sorry for my ignorance, but, maybe, this issue could be explained in the ALIAS help documentation.

Thanks for your help.
