topic Canvas resizing for blueprint setup in Alias Forum

Hi guys,

All I want to do is setup a blueprint of a car so I can begin a modelling tutorial. I'm having some really troubling issues with the canvas resize options. I've been following the instructions provided by Alias which don't seem to result in anything useful.

The resize mode is only in pixels and I can't figure out how to change those units to cm. It maxes out at 8000 pixels which isn't very helpful for me. The other option is the crop/expand option which has cm but when I resize the canvas the image on the inside of the canvas is not scaled with the box size and ends up getting cropped out.

Is there no way to draw a box with my dimensions and snap the canvas to the corners of that box? Can I snap the scale of my front view to corners of my top view? I don't understand why this is so difficult and maybe there actually is a simple way of doing this. For now I'm stuck unable to set up front/side/top/back images in my workspace with the correct width and height.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow up issue: When adding the front and back views the canvases overwrite each other. Even if I move them away from the origin it will not let me have both in 3D space .

I am not aware of the canvas resize option but since Alias 2020 or so, you can scale the canvas images just like a regular object. If your other canvas images are at the same size, you can just copy and paste the scale values inside of the Information Window.

I guess you don’t have checked the option “always create a new canvas”.
