Cannot Resize Control Panel Width

I have had this problem across multiple machines and windows versions.

While I can resize the Object Lister easily, The Control Panel doesn't allow any resizing and even the icon to resize the width does not appear. This happens despite the Control Panel having plenty of available empty space.

With laptops 17in screens can be crucial to save space resizing panels while maintaning big texts. Is this only my issue or is just a possible upgrade you should consider?

In the image below you can see the mouse icon not switching for Control Panel while it switches for Object Lister and the unnecessary space available next to the Control Panel's tabs.

While you can resize the control panel vertically, it has never been able to resize horizontally. It is (and has always been) a fixed width window.

I think it would be advantageous if the ability to change the width was enabled.
