I am having some trouble getting the numbers right with 2 BOM's The first one (Weight) It shows Kgs and I can't get it to show Tonnes and the second one (Volume) I have been told that volume is not availiable for BOM's so I have used a formula but the result on the drawing is always 0 Can anyone help with this

Regards

Tony

HI,

The units used by the BOM on the drawing are controlled in the BOM Template file. Open the BOM Template file and go to Project Settings. One of the pages is weight units and you should set that as you wish. Then in the individual drawings "Update BOM" or through Document manager just any update. No need to re-insert the template.

The volume will likely come good once the weight units are sorted. I assume your formula works on paper but I don't recognise the value. For Steel I would use m³ = weight in tonnes / 7.85.

Regards,

Aleck Giles

Application Engineer

Graitec, UK

HI,

The dialog you show is "List Sorting / Content". Project Settings are next to Management Tools on the Home ribbon. Home > Settings > Project Settings. Surely you go here for every project to complete the project data. How else do you complete the title blocks in all your drawings and BOMs? The same dialog controls the units for in any AS file such as BOM templates and Drawing Prototypes.

Regards,

Aleck Giles

Application Engineer

Graitec, UK.

Hi Aleck

I adjusted the settings for weight in the Project Settings to be Metric Ton and still can't get the 2 BOM's to show the right format

Any chance you could help me with this? File "w_&_v" is what is appearing on the drawing and file "w_&_v_2" is the BOM templates.

It looks as though everything is OK

Regards

Tony

Hi,

Both of those template files still had the incorrect units set when you open them and go into Project Settings. These have to be set in the template file not the drawing that uses the template. Watch out also that the precision changes to no DP when you change the unit so you should reset that to what you want.

The volume template seems to need the weight field also included before you can calculate anything based on it. So I have added it in. Both boxes will be to the same precision based on the weight unit.

Here are both of your templates adjusted. They work OK for me now.

Regards,

Aleck Giles

Application Engineer

Graitec, UK
