Hi,

If you make your own custom lists you could set the Report Contents to "Bolts" (shop bolts) and "Site Bolts" on separate templates so you get the distinct quantities but if they are both included on a list they just get totalled together.

Look on Autodesk.com for an FAQ about custom BOM templates.

Regards,

Aleck Giles

Application Engineer

Graitec, UK

I have customized a BOM in Advance Steel to mimic the Bill of Material our office has been issuing for years in Autocad.

I am very satisfied with the result except for one part. Is there a way to list the field bolts separately from the main assembly?

We usually list assemblies and their components first and then list all the field bolts at the bottom of the BOM. Is there a way to do this in AS?

If this is not possible, can the field bolts be listed under each assembly but with a separation (1 or 2 empty rows)?

Hi,

What you describe would mean changing the grouping of the objects in the BOMs. This is not possible for users to do; it requires programming.

You could make separate lists (like the material list and then the bolt erection list) and export to Excel where you can reorganise into one list. The Bolt Erection Lists list the bolts in each assembly rahter than just total numbers.

Regards,

Aleck Giles

Application Engineer

Graitec UK

Aleck, thank you for your input. I was afraid that it would have to be programmed.

I am wondering if users out there are using a quick and easy method to mark bolts as field bolts in the bill of material (maybe a user attribute or a free remark). We rarely use lists. I want to show bolts as field bolts as soon as the BOM is generated when drawings are created so they are easily distinguished from shop bolts.

Any input is greatly appreciated.
