Hi @abeeler,

Here are the steps I used to fix your AstorSettings database:

- Open Management Tools

- Open Units Selection page

- Set the units to Metric / Decimal / Precision 0.000 --> these are the unit settings for Management Tools only

- Go to category Drawing-Labeling --> General

- Search for setting Reference length for slope triangle

- Set it to 254 mm

- Set it to 304.8 mm

- Then open a new AS session and update the existing slope dimension or create a new one

Please let me know if these steps fix the issue on your side too.

Best regards,
Emy

Hello,

I'm having an issue with setting the correct reference length for my slope triangles. I know that in MT, you can set the reference length to whatever you want under the Drawing - Labeling defaults. I set my default reference length for the slope triangle to 12" (it immediately changes to 1' 0", but no biggie), and check the box "Slope triangle reference lengths in inches" under Drawing - Presentation defaults. However, every time I pull a manual slope triangle on a drawing it comes out at 11", not 12". When the above-mentioned box is uncheck, the reference length is 1', but our fabricators prefer it to be in inches. Can anyone help me on this? I've searched and searched, but can find no other settings that might govern this behavior. Thanks!

Hi @abeeler,

Thank you for using Advance Steel Forum 🙂

There is a setting in MT to change the slope reference value in Inch and to not use feet:

- Slope triangle reference length in Inches

Please see attached picture too.

Regarding the value you get for reference, I think I would need some additional info from you:

- the AS version you are working with

- a detail with the result you get on your side

The best way would be an archive with a test model and the generated detail, to allow me to test the behavior.

Best regards,
Emy

Please see the attached screen shots. I'm running AS 2017.1.

As you can see, I have the MT settings set correctly but am experiencing an anomalous result. There is another thread with this exact same issue, but no solution (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/advance-steel-forum/slope-triangle-symbol-on-shop-drawings/td-p/5959069).

I went looking through the databases but could not find any tables controlling the slope symbol, so perhaps it is hard-wired into the dll.

Hi @abeeler,

Thank you for the images and additional info.

I see the results you get. However, it is really difficult to investigate the behavior based only these images.

Please send me an archive with your model and generated detail, to test and investigate on my side.

Alternative, we could arrange for a desktop sharing session, to investigate directly on your system.

Best regards,
Emy

Hi @abeeler,

Thank you for sending the test model.

Here are the results of the tests on my side:

- when I open the detail from you, the horizontal value of the slope triangle is shown as 11"

- when I do anything to it - change any property or just move the triangle --> the value is changed right away to 12"

- when I add a new slope, the reference value is also 12"

At this moment I could only suspect something related to a setting, but I could not find a "guilty" one.

Is it possible to send me an archive with your AstorSettings.mdb and AstorAddIn.mdb databases ?

You could send me a PM with a link to a shared location.

And I will test again using your configuration.

Best regards,

I had the same issue I think it has something to do with the feet and inches in the dimension style in your proto type drawing. I'm not a hundred percent sure but this is the same issue I had. I set everything in MT but arrived at the same issue as you have., It kept giving me the base as 11".

Here are the steps I used to fix your AstorSettings database:

- Go to category Drawing-Labeling --> General

- Search for setting Reference length for slope triangle

- Set it to 254 mm

- Set it to 304.8 mm
