Hi,

what kind of number does the customer want to have on the list? The main part number or part number? Because an item number is not defined in the AS parts. You can write it by hand as commodity number...

Hi,

A client has insisted that i have an item no. next to each line on an assembly drawing BOM, as attached. I've tried numerous tutorials but can't get it to work, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks

Hi,

o.k., i understand, It should just be a consecutive number. In my opinion this is not possible in BOM on drawings. Normally you can use a formula but you need a start value and there is no option for this.

Hi,
The closest that I have is an Autocad table with one column, and formula next row to be top row +1.

Height of the rows will be easy to match the BOM. One table with lets say 12 rows to be always inserted in the prototype, deleting of extra rows is quick, adding of extra rows is slower, but not that slow. Dragging the grip of the row above will add the formula to the new rows.

@SHDetailDesign

Probably even a faster way to do this is adding an empty box next to the first column on the left, next to Part Marks, and another one that would be always empty next to MP, and one added to the BOM Header, with text "Item No."

This way boxes will be always aligned in BOM.

Next-we can use one already done BOM on real dwg and fill the empty boxes with the numbers, max allowed in the prototype.

Next-we can copy the numbers with base point to the used prototype.

The only time we will waste modifying BOM on dwgs will be deleting the extra numbers, one select and one delete.

I was asked the same thing by a fabricator, I will do it too.

Regards,
