Here is a screenshot. The marked bolts have disappeared, yet the holes remain in both the gusset and the angle braces. In other instances, the gusset plate has disappeared as well as the bolts. I'd sure like to know where they go & how to get them back without making a new connection. I'm relatively sure there's no aliens working on my model. Thanks.

I am somewhat new to advance steel connections. I have bracing connections that keep disappearing on me. I have tried unfreezing/turning on all layers, un-isolate and everything else I can think of. If I put the brace on "features" display, I can see the bolt holes and delete them and re-install the connection. Where does it go? I can't keep re-doing everything. Is there a way to get them to reappear?

Can you select ALL bolts, and make them having Standard Presentation, and after that switch presentation.

Hi,

This is the work flow of Advance steel as having all the bolts visible in a large structure can sometimes cause issues while trying to orbit.

You can highlight the bolt connectors in the structure from the Selection filters category on the Advance Steel Tool Palettes.

Scroll to the bolt icon and select it.

All the bolts in the structure will be highlighted. To display the bolts in the standard presentation jump down to the Quick views category and hover over the "Change the representation type, toggle until the bolts are in the standard representation.

Additionally, use the select similar AutoCAD command to select the bolt symbols in the structure then change the representation type from the Quick views category.

I hope this helps:)

Thanks a lot, I was able to set the remaining bolts to standard display so maybe they won't go away. The missing bolts/gusset plates did not reappear. and that also didn't explain where the gusset plates are going when I'm left with nothing but holes in the braces. Now I worry that they will magically re appear now that I have re-installed the connection and I'll have multiple unwanted entities in the model. I think this program causes as many problems as it solves. I appreciate your help. Thanks

I personally think, and maybe others too, you will have to go and invest in training before offending the "program".

Many users all over the world are supporting families with this great software, it is inappropriate for an untrained user to put such a statement.

I have seen in the past that connections would just "disappear". This happens especially if you use the AutoCAD "Isolate" tool. To fix this, I would usually just "Show All" and it will be back.

Hi Shane

Did you ever resolve the issue of plates etc disappearing, Its pretty frustrating as I have replaced my purlin plates twice now. Having added a mezz floor I have once more lost the roof purlin plates and the eve connection! I have had to use different manufacturer/generic plates and wonder if that effects the standard one previously used?

Regards

We didn't stop working for any pandemic. I think you're opinion of this software is a lot higher than mine. I use it and I like it, but it does have some serious flaws. However we are a design company, not a fabricator. We don't make fabrication drawings. and our structures are underground and sometimes they are not stationary. Most of the rules are different underground, so this program struggles regardless of anyone's experience or how nice of a guy they are. But with the recent improvements in Revit, we may be able to switch over to that soon. I can only hope.

Yes, it does some strange things.

But Revit is far from perfect either, but it depends on the scope of work, so it may be a better option for your company.

I stay with this one because it is cad based and it is very flexible for bridges and when customized properly-for buildings and for misc. metals.

It needs a substantial amount of time, don't ask me how many weekends I spent working on it.

On top of this, some in development do not have even an idea of what steel detailing is.

Have to be very patient I guess.

But no one is perfect.

Good luck with Revit, let me know how it goes when you get into it when you have a minute.
