We are a steel pre-fabricator – and in a lot of projects we have a large scope of remnants after the cutting optimization (as that your software does).

For that reason, we have developed a very unique algorithm which based on a cost function (consist of several key variables) that related to the production process (in raw material as well in labour) – which give an optimal production mix between raw material & labor by using maximum one joint in each jointed profile.

WE WOULD LIKE TO GET FEEDBACKS FROM STEEL DETAILERS AND STEEL PRE-FABRICATORS ON THE NESTING SOFTWARES THE EXISITING TODAY AND HOW WELL IT MEET THEIR DEMANDS?

As a Manager in a structural fabrication shop, splicing material is a waste of time. Ordering materials in advance just over cut length where possible from the steel mill is where you will be most productive. If you cannot do this in a timely fashion, scrapping the drops, usually is cheaper in the long run. For larger drops, say over 10', we introduce these as custom bar lengths in the nesting program to use them. Generally 10' or less goes to the hopper.

HI THERE

In most of the structures model you cannot order in variety of lengths the raw material (usually in Israel we can order in 12/6 meters.

I can send you an example in which you can see that in splicing remnants you can save up to 15% in material use - In the example which I want to send you the material is HEA700 - which cost is very high.

Send me your email and I will send you over the example.

Advance Steel don't use any nesting. So if a length optimization will always had to be done by another software.
There'e a few on the market and I don't know how it works in other countries but as far as I know this will normally done by the seller of the beams, not by the detaillers.

HI SEBASTIAN

There is for example steelprojects software - which is TEKLA software. The profile mills don't conduct nesting as far as I know.

Also there is nesting softwares which are part of production lines - but as I saw - there are not optimal (since they don't deal with remnants).

The detailers I agree don't conduct the nesting -so we ofer to add to the detailing software - such as TEKLA is using with steel projects - a nesting function which can enable the detailers to give there costumers a benefit to the detailing process by saving them raw materials.

If you would like to see the algorithm works - send me your email

itay

Hi again
Our algorithm specialized in nesting under cost effective limitations - so that it take into account the jointing costs - and if it is cost reducer (especially in heavy duty beams) it can give a production optimizer including by jointing two remnants into one element.
If you need to see such a production plan, send me your email and I will send it over.

B.regards,

Itay Kadosh, C.F.O
Agan Group
Tel. 972-8-8611803 Fax. 972-8-8531573
M. 972-52-3221105
[cid:image001.jpg@01D96ABF.9B6C3CC0]
