Shown below with red lines, is there a way to make all the treads to have a 1" overlap and keep the same spacing other than the top step?

Hi @derrick_lambrecht

Nosing points will always be kept spread evenly along the nosing line so probably a better way is to make the top tread / grating a "cover" from the macro or just copy one tread and modify it.

Here we can define the nosing point offset (4):

Here we can position the top of grating at the landing:

Hi,

Reading now the first part of the question-usual slope and run is 11" and 7", but this is depending on the applicable Building Code.

If we use 12.125" wide treads this will cover appr. 1" nosing point over the lower sitting tread.

The example below is with grating treads:

And an example with concrete fillet pan treads:

It takes a few minutes to save certain tread type and dimensions in Step size, Tread Type, Tread dimensions 1 and 2.

After that save the entire macro in the library so it can be used all over again.

Thank you, unfortunately we have to go by the standards to maintain a 1" overlap. I kept adjusting the length as specified, but it adjusts them so the top step is different than the bottom one. When I get the top overlap to be 1" the bottom one decreases.

What are you adjusting that makes them different?

Do you want all the overlaps to be the same?

nothing shows up with the attached file. yeah, I am trying to make the overlaps all be 1" to meet code standards

Hi @derrick_lambrecht

The nosing points will spread evenly even if you offset the top tread.

(BTW-this makes sense per code)

If for some reason you need to offset ONLY the top tread-then we can use the Landing cover, or just copy one tread with the bolts and modify.

Not 100% sure what you are doing but for me I never use the landing cover.

I create top tread, make it different then change the values in tread dimensions 1 and 2.

I made the top step different as requested. still need to make some adjustments someplace, but I think thats the right track to go on. Thanks!

My top tread size was already set, to extend it look at tread width on tread dimensions 1.
