Several company cartridges (prototypes)

Hello, I would like to know if there is a simpler method than changing the prototypes in the folder to have several choices of companies when drawing up plans. For the moment I copy / paste the prototype of A to make the plans of A. Then I delete the prototypes A to paste those of company B.

For example a layout button?

One alternative can be as per below

By project

If the prototypes are in the model folder created automatically by Advance Steel, the location is set by the project.

For example, if the model file name is drawing1.dwg and it is saved on the Windows drive in ...\MyDocuments\Project\ClientA\Model1.dwg, then the prototypes are located in ...\My Documents\Project\ClientA\Model1\Prototypes.

This option allows having different prototypes for different projects.

I do the same.........I work for maybe 4 or 5 different companies.......I have a general work folder, and within that.....i have a seperate folder for each company.........and within each one of those I have a "New Model" which contains

(I re-name the above with whatever the client wants in the way of Job No)

and within "New" there is

Obviously the prototypes here are specific for each client........and that's how it works for me

Thanks for your answers, but I don't understand how to target prototypes other than the default: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2025\FRA\Shared\Support\Prototypes

as long as you have the folder structure set up as I show......AS will find them

In the first instance you may need to select Model and NOT Shared

C:Work/client folder/new model/..............then as i showed you before

I did a video on this a couple of years ago. I make a new "country" configuration for each client and then I change the prototypes in that Client's (country) folder. There's some registry editing to do, but you get a client list that opens up when you start AS.

Thanks for all the answers, I succeeded for the plans, now I have to configure the lists 🙂

But isn't it too heavy to have all the prototypes copied in each project? Do you delete them afterwards?

this is my list of prototypes for each model.............obviously i dont use all of them on every project........but they are there if I need them............I don't think 3 or 4 Mb is too heavy

I do the same for the lists..........I have 6 lists......Material (Sections)........Material (Plates) ........Delivery List.......Bolt List.......Assembly List & Anchor List....all the same for every job except the client logo / name

Interesting, where is the database to manage the lists? it must be copied into which folder -> Databases?
Because I am currently using the default lists user model. Project model is empty.

open the BOM Editor.......

choose the taqmplate you want to modify

right click on it and "Save As".........then modify as you need..........it will always be there

choose the template you want to use

But Advance necessarily uses the project list and not the user list, is that correct?

those lists are global.......not unique to the project.......once you have modified the ones you want..thay will always be there regardless of project

So for the lists you have to make copies with the company names.
So the version by country is lighter in the list window

......yes.........it's what I have done..........I have maybe 36 lists (for 6 different clients) all the delivery lists are the same except for the logo.....all assembly lists are the same except for the logo.....all bolt lists etc etc etc

I find it works best for me that way........and clients like to see a little personalization 😊

There are a few different ways to manage this issue.

My recommended solution is to run a different set of databases for each customer.
