topic How do we get a custom parts list to display on the "BOM Template" tool panel? in Advance Steel Forum

Hi All,

This is an odd question - seeing as though I've already done it, but I'm not quite sure how it worked.

What's the correct way to get custom BOM templates to display on the BOM template tool panel?

You can see below that I've managed to add a few BOM templates of my own, but I don't know how I did it. I do a bunch of similar, but seemingly unrelated steps and eventually it appears.

Here's what I do:

Create a model query - any query, doesn't have to be right...

Create a list based on this query

Go into the BOM editor, select the template I want to use, click 'Use', then select the query.

a BOM report will be created - discard it.

Restart Advance Steel

The Parts list template should now be available on the Tool panel

If this doesn't work, try some or all of the steps above - eventually it will work.

So what's the correct work flow?

Cheers

Hi @gerrardhickson

Please follow the steps below

1. Output tab on the ribbon, in the Document manager panel, top right button is tye BOM Editor

2. In the tree structure in the top right right expand User then BOM

3. You then need to click on the folder Parts list

4. This will display a list of all the BOMs in that folder with a check box

5. Tick the BOMs you want to see, untick the ones you don't

6. Close the BOM Editor

7. You must close the BOM tomatoes pallette, not minimise but close

8. Restart Advance Steel and reopen the pallette, flip to the User category and you will see it
