Beveled Washer Help

I have tried researching several threads in the forums and I still haven't had success.

I am trying to create the following bolt set in 3/4" diameter:

A325 bolt, F436 Washer, Beveled S Washer, A563 Nut

The photos shown are for a handrail attachment to a channel stringer. For certain plate thicknesses, the nut doesn't look correct when using a beveled/tapered washer, but looks fine if I change it to NaW or Na2W.

I suspect this has something to do with my rules, and I have tried making some changes to them with no luck.

I have attached two screenshots of what I am talking about, one without the beveled washer and one with.

From what I gather, my minimum length should be: grip + 3/16(F436 washer) + 7/16" (Beveled washer) +1" (A563 nut+1/4")

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Change these values and apply in first image to get positive values in second image.

The thickness at the axis of a 3/4" dia beveled washer is 5/16", Table 7-14 AISC 15th, down on the bottom of the table, it is now a note, not a line in the table as it used to be.

For 3/4" bolt-nut---beveled washer-nut my set up is:

Example:

Bolts through 1" plate:

1+1/8 (roughly) for flat washer+5/16+1=2 7/16"

For 1 1/8" plate:

1 1/8+1/8+5/16+1=2.56"

Thank you Ilko for sharing your rule settings for grip length.

I was having a difficult time trying different combinations of parameters as previously suggested. Just when I found a combination I thought worked, if I changed the base plate thickness in the example I had, certain thicknesses would fail.

I guess I don't fully understand the bolt length calculation rules.

This poses another question I have about bolt sets. I will create a separate post for that.
