Grating not showing on auxiliary views

what am I missing? a stairway assembly only had an elevation view, when a plan view is requested via the section command the treads do not show. from other posts I tried a different DS from the DSM but which ever DS I select I get "Drawing styles are not compatible"

the original elevation shows the grating but the generated plan does not. I've tried many DS's but none do any different?

I see a MP Detailstyle, the question is: what DS you use for the section view?
Which version (country installation) do you use?

its Australian Sebastian, I have tried all the stair type DS is there a trick I'm missing?

In the Drawing Style Manager, expand the DS you used. There should be a tab for the "Front view" and the "Top view". Expand the "Front view" and "Top view" tabs. Compare the "Object presentation" tabs. You can always make the "Top view" look like the "Front view" because it shows up in the front. But my guess would be you are missing the line I have circled in the picture below or the "Presentation" is set to "off" for grating.

I really appreciate your help I have changed the DS but I can't figure how to apply the DS to the call out view.

also tried resetting the default in management tools and making a new section.

maybe as information.
Your detail style is "stair front" this means, the whole mainpart will be shown from the "front" side.
The front side is based on the object orientation and so this could not be used as a cut view style. For cut views you need in general a style which is based on UCS.

so in the assembly dwg I open the DSM pick a DS and in "object presentation" check that "grating", "grating stairs", "steps grate" have "visiblehidden" in presentation, then I click apply, then use, then select the view.

As I said: the detailstyle ,you choose is for Mainparts and could easy used for Cutviews. YOu need to use another detailstyle if you want to create a cut view or call out.

hi,

so if you are trying to add a top view within the assembly type drawing, then you have two options, you can change the cut view style , when you go to add it, to be the same as the front view using the settings option. ten browse to the style within the Drawing Style manager. and then it will use this for the cut view.

or

you could add a new view to the style being used, personally i would copy the main Style again and then add the view to that DS arrangement, using the same style as the front view as a starting point and then change the object view direction to top. then you can use it manually or if using a process you can create a new Detail style map, and swap out the style within the style map steps.

you could choose to go further and create a new process, new step and new style map, but for a quick fix just try a style map swap out.
