Drag Copy, or Copying without Copy/Paste

I'm a little new to this program so I might have missed something obvious, but I don't see a way to simply select something and drag a copy (holding the alt key) the way you can in Photoshop or similar programs. This seems like an obvious and common feature so that's why I wonder if I'm just missing it somehow.

As far as I can tell, the only way to copy something is to select it, copy it, then paste it. This creates a new layer for the pasted content I then have to re-position and merge into the original layer every time I do it. That's a couple extra steps I would rather not do.

On Windows 10 version (Tablet), it is not available. You can you the desktop verison of SketchBook.

I'm on the pro desktop version on Windows 10 using a cintiq. The link you provided doesn't work, but it seems you're saying there should be a drag-copy in this version though I don't see anything whatsoever in the software.

Can you provide a working link or a quick explanation as to where I might find this, or what key combination I need to know?

To prevent the cut/copy/paste from not going into a new layer, go to:

Edit > Preferences > General > Options > UNCHECK Add Image: Import into a new layer

Then you can use cut/copy/paste workflow.

There isn't a shortcut to do it by using the ALT key in Adobe products.

In the Windows 10 (tablet) version, there is a select option but there isn't a way to cut/copy paste it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try AND put it in as a request. I think a simple alt-key process would be better.

I want to bump this up as well. As a workaround, I've been making multiple new layers and erasing what I don't need, but it takes up quite a bit of time.

Using a brand new surface book, and without any non keyboard method to copy and paste i find the speed at which i can work very limited. I'm doing rapid variations of the same sketch, i need to lasso, then drag copy. Simple. Doesn't appear possible, unless I'm missing something?
