Hi,

I can't erase the drawings fully. At first, everything seem okay when you erase them but when you view the image in Microsoft Publisher in transparent color, you can still see the erased drawing in lighter white color in the background. Kindly help

I have reported this with the development team.

If you use the Eye dropper tool on the erased part, you will notice that the white is not 255, 255, 255, You may need to erase the section again and double check that it is erased via an color picker.

I’m having the same issue (mobile, on iOS). Double erasing is a pain in the arse, especially when the remaining color is 254 in one of the RGB channels. It’s so faint, and when drawing freehand, it’s hard to erase the exact same portion twice.

This also leads to the associated flood fill issue when the tolerance is set low - because a line with 254 in at least one of the RGB values remains.

I tested it out. Not a programmer, but it looks to me like a rounding issue. A gray with the values 127, 127, 127 erases to 254, 254, 254, while 128, 128, 128 erases to the correct 255, 255, 255. 127, 127, 128 erases to 254, 254, 255.

In other words, 127 and lower = 254 when erased, 128 and lower = 255 when erased.

I noticed that this issue was brought to your attention at least since last August in another thread. Any chance of actually getting a fix?

Otherwise, a clumsy workaround for monochrome lines/sections is to lock the transparency of the layer, change the color of the lines/fill to a placeholder color over 128s, erase as needed, then change the color back to what you wanted. I wish I had figured that before doing a ton of black linework.

Ack. That should’ve been 128 and higher are erased to 255. Though with context, I think that’s obvious.

127 or less + eraser at 100% = color value 254

128 or more + eraser at 100% = color value 255

I have exactly the same problem. Here is a GIF as prove.

https://imgur.com/81nGKlF

I also tested it with areas of different gray scales. Sketchbook is not even able to erase a complete white area on a blue background.

Here is a GIF as prove.

https://imgur.com/KGYBG54

With this bug the program is literally unusable.

Everytime you duplicate a layer, you get the not fully erased lines on the new layer.

This doesn't solve the problem but it's an alternative. Just use one of the pencils and make a custom shape which is white. Whenever you use the "pencil" it will erase it without leaving a trace.

Sorry, but that is no solution at all. If you want to erase something, you want to remove the color, so that the current layer gets transparent and you see what is below.

Your "solution" is coloring the current layer white, which is the opposite of erasing.

Anyway, I'm not using this tool anymore due to not being able to fix this issue. So, I don't even know why I'm replying here. 😄

No, I don't, because I'm not using Sketchbook anymore as already mentioned in my last message, but my guess is that they did not patch this problem out. It was existing even before I encountered it and was mentioned by others before and they did not do anything about it.

It's sad because I really liked the simplicity of Sketchbook, but that issue is a no go for me.

I'm having the same issue as well. No fix or update yet it seems. If I use the color picker it does show as 1, 1, 1. Neither hard eraser or normal eraser can fully erase without lifting the pen/mouse button and trying again.

I was messing around with other methods and found that setting a brush to draw transparency produces the same results, the brush will not draw full transparency in one pass just as the eraser won't erase fully. Even creating a custom brush does the same thing.

Wow. That's just sad that they haven't fixed this bug yet. This is such a simple and crucial feature for a drawing program. Either they are not reading their bug reports or they just don't care about the program. I guess it's the latter.

I eventually adopted the technique of "erasing" lines by drawing over them with white ink and setting the layer type to Darken, but obviously that's situational and not a real fix.

It's disappointing that the developers are not addressing problems which are simply inexcusable for any art program. This other issue is similarly egregious and has still not been fixed after over two years: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/sketchbook-forum/colour-appears-brighter-and-more-saturated-when-i-save-my-work/m-p/9739993
