I've been searching for the same solution for days. From what I understand, the program has a default setting which sets any block, brought to the palette, to adopt the current layer when brought into the drawing. But none of mine behave this way. I think they used to, as I've only really started to use tool palettes, so not sure.

Is it possible I may have mistakenly changed a default setting somewhere? Every block I create and insert in the palette comes into the drawing on layer 0.

I may need some simplified instructions if possible,

Thanks

Setting the "General Properties" when adding Images to tool Palettes

Is their an feature or a way that I can set some general defaults when adding "Images" (Actually Blocks or Drawings) to a tool Pallett? Right now when you add an Image you right click on the image in the tool pallett and choose properties. In the "General" area (below the insert) the Color, Layer Linetype, Plot style,Lineweight and Transparency are all set to "--USE Currect" how can I set all these to Bylayer in a quick way without having to edit each and every Image as I add them?

Hi @ryan-lehtonen,

Thank you for joining us for Answer Day!

For tools that you are adding to a tool palette (a block tool, for example), the default General Properties should already be set to "By Layer", if you drag the block from the open, saved drawing onto the tool palette.

Is this not what you are experiencing?

There is also a bit more information about the procedures for modifying tools here, which covers the process available for applying property overrides. As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to automatically apply custom overrides to each tool you create.
