Hello,

I have a couple questions about using custom SHX fonts. We have one called SIMP1 that we use for almost all our text in our drawings and there are some codes for some fractions and symbols that we use often. It seems that a few of them are universal between fonts? I am very unfamiliar with SHX files and I'm definitely not sure how to create or edit them.

A few of the most common we use are "%%2xx"(fraction code; outcome is xx/16), "%%c"(diameter symbol), "%%130"(centerline symbol), "%%p"(plus or minus symbol), and "%%133"(plate symbol).

The fractions and the centerline symbols have to be entered in a "text" object and then copied and pasted into a "mtext", but the plate symbol doesn't even have that ability. It just inserts at nothing.

Do I need to edit the SHX file in some way to have the ability to enter these codes into a mtext object?

Thanks,

Michael

Thanks for your reply Pendean. So with our custom SHX font file, we are missing a matching TTF file? I'm not sure if that is something that we ever had or not. I'm having a hard time finding any solutions in the Autocad's HELP. I'm just not sure why our custom centerline symbol will work when copied from text to mtext, but our plate symbol won't.

Anyway, this is certainly something that is beyond my limited and early experience in AutoCAD, but I definitely like to come here to troubleshoot when I can!

Thanks,

The attached pdf is a chart I made up to help me translate and correct the old symbols to readable fractions. It is a very old font called S0 (s zero).

Not sure if this is what you might have been looking for, but I was in the same boat trying to figure out what to insert in place of the old fractions.

I still work with old drawings that use the S0 font so I still need to figure out the fractions and symbols.
