You can not hide the prefix, but note that prefix is not the filename of your xref, it is the referencename!
By default acad attach the referencename = filename, but you can edit them!

That is the way how you can attach one file as two or more xrefs, every one with there own layerproperties in the same model or viewport.

they name of an xref layer displays as "xref|xxxxx". Are there any ways to hide the xref name in front? It is usually too long and inconvenient for me to find the layer I am looking for.

If I want to find a layer, I could type the first letter of the name. With that xref name in front, I am not able to do that!!!

Not that I am aware of.

Without the prefix of the xref name, there would be no way to tell a local layer from an xref layer, and the potential for duplicate layer names would be an issue.

Yes, I know it. I have two xref with layer: Xref A (Xref A|.E-LS-Lighting line), Xref B (Xref B|.E-LS-Lighting line). I need lay off it 1 one time. If I do manual by lay off command that i need two step. I have some drawing with over 10 xref like this.

If you know the name(s): Use command: -LAYER

Thats also good for standard Layernames, because you can setup your own Layer-Button

Layer off for all XRef-Layer wuth "DOOR" at the end of the name.

'_.-LAYER;_off;*|*DOOR;;

Each XREF has it's own set of layers. You may be able to accomplish what you want with LISP. Try asking about it over in the LISP and Customization forum.
