Hi, if I didn't mark the answer as accepted it is that I cannot accept it as right answer to my question. My question was if there is possible to change the spline lines into normal lines. First I do not know why that happened. I thought that probably there are some settings which came the wrong way and I wanted to know which and if I can change them to not get again that behavior again. There after sure one can any time redraw the situation with normal lines. It was about the settings and not about redraw it or not. Sorry.

Hi, since a while ago my AutoCAD 12 program is generating spline lines in the created block. Anyone know how to reset the settings so that I can have useful normal lines instead of spline lines? Or how do I convert all the spline lines in normal lines?!!

Anticipated thanks,

G

Hi,

which version of AutoCAD are you using now?

Because for that type of geometry I would like to use command _VIEWBASE (>>>details<<<) instead of FLATSHOT or similar (old/bad) 2D converted geometry.

Hello Gabriel,

Using a Flatshot in newer version of AutoCAD (2015) gives same results as in Your case.

I believe this has something to do with how Your solid was created. I'm not sure if it was drawn in AutoCAD or imported, but I'm sure this didn't initially consist of just Line + Arc elements (or wasn't recognized as such), because then the created blocks would be exploded to same elements.

There is something like spline- to polyline conversion, but this won't do any good in Your case. Unfortunately, I'd recommend redrawing the object if You need those lines.

Kind Regards,
Pawel

Hi @Anonymous,

I exploded your model and recreated it. I replaced the existing splines with arcs and then joined the outline of the side. I then press-pulled it to the correct height. I then added the circles, gave them a length and then subtracted them from the plate.

Now when I flatshot, and end explode the block, the curved parts are arcs.

Hey Gabriel,

At the moment, we can only guess what is the cause of this occurence, unless You provide us some feedback about Your workflow.

Could You tell us more, what was the process of creating this 3d Solid? Does it include 3rd party software, or was it drawn in different versions of AutoCAD?

You mentioned that this started occuring while ago. Were there any software changes lately (software that could influence the process)?

Hey,

Thanks for the information! If it was entirely made by AutoCAD, then I see only a single explanation for this behavior at the moment.

It occurs for a reason not entirely clear to me, that spline was created during Your process because of some bad AutoCAD interpretation of Your 2D sketch. I've been playing with it for a while, trying different combination of following: selection order , mirroring , join, boundary, explode. So far I've been able to reproduce it once or twice after like 50 tries, so there probably is something that causes the issue. I would either guess it to be duplicated entities or properties inheritance, due to selection order while joining objects, that causes them to be converted to splines as a result.

From my side i would only recommend checking the type of the entity that is created before extruding it. When I'll have time, I'll try to dig in more.

Thanks for great feedback!

Kind Regards,
Pawel
