First try: set your visual style in the viewports to "2D-Wireframe" and try to plot ==> is the quality better then?

I guess yes, and now we need to see the viewport and plot settings to be more helpful (if you can upload the drawing, that would be the best).

Line Smoothing not supported?

Ok, I have new ( 6 week old) workstation and I am having a difficult time getting 3d paperspace views to print smoothly and not jagged. THIS HAPPENS ONLY IN PAPERSPACE... I have all my graphic accelerators on but my line smoothing option is ghosted over but still checked off. When i run a tuner log through Autocad it shows the line smoothing option is not supported but all other graphics accelerators are supported. The kicker here is that this graphics card as well as the 2 drivers I have tried using are certified and recommended through Autocad. I have a AMD FirePro W5100. The only way I can get these 3d views to print without jagged lines is by FLATTEN or FLATSHOT which takes a long time to generate on large models. This doesnt look the best but it improves the image drastically. I have brought this issue to Autocad Tech support with no solution. I have tried every graphics driver certified by Autocad as well as the newest version with no change. I have uninstalled and reinstalled autocad with no luck. I have run diagnostic/ repair on DX11 with no issues. I am running out of options here. Anybody having issues with this kind of graphics card or similar issues with ACAD 2017 SP1?

AutocAD 2017

Dell Precision 620

Intel i7-6700 3.4 GHz

32GB RAM

AMD FirePro W5100 4GB

I do not want to print in wireframe. I want to be able to print just as hidden visual style shows in model space. No hidden lines, white unshaded faces. I have attached a small sample file of what I am experiencing.

-Chris

Hi,

>> I do not want to print in wireframe

It's a test to see when it get's jagged, I have not written that this is how you have to plot your project finally

Looking to your drawing I changed some options, try it on your system and let us know if it's better then:

select viewport ==> property window ==> change property "Shade plot" to "Legacy hidden"

in the plot-dialog change the plotter to "DWG to PDF.pc3" and within it's properties raise the resolution to 1200dpi or 2400dpi

better now?

I have attached the result I get (+ a screenshot how it looks like on my monitor with 100% scale of the PDF

HI @Anonymous,

I don't believe this issue is specific to your graphics card or drivers. Since you started a case a week or so ago, The Support Specialist and I worked on your file at that time and I was able to duplicate the issue on other computers that had different graphics cards.

I did find that I had better results when I adjusted the Visual Style settings a bit:

Edge Settings: Facet Edges, white

Intersection Edges: Show: Yes, Color=white

Silhouette Edges: Show, Width=4

I also found that the results were different from AutoCAD for Mac PDF which tells me that changing to a different PDF driver that allows more granularity in settings might also improve the results.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Thanks Alfred. Is there any way to remove the lines on that blacked out section? It seems to be a lot of lines representing curve.
