Hi,

sorry for the late response, just have seen this thread as unanswered.

>> In my viewports occasionally my 3D models are completely black

Please upload the drawing, the PDF is nothing we can play with.

In most cases when rendering is black it's either the lighting (and all in dependence with the light, like distance and units) or the distance between camera and model ... therefor you need to set your view to a perspective view, your PDF looks like a parallel view.

If that does not help, then please show us the dwg-file.

HTH, - alfred -

Shades of Gray Issue

In my viewports occasionally my 3D models are completely black or a component is when I have it set to shades of gray. I am not sure of the cause but I do know that this problem is not carried over to another CAD file by coping and pasting it into anther file. Unless that file was already having this issue. I was hoping someone knew how to fix this issue without having to keep remaking my CAD files every time this occurs in one. I included an image of what my viewport model looks like.

Changing from parallel to perspective view did not help any that was one of the first things I tried while researching the problem. I do not have that CAD file anymore I remade it to correct that issue. The model looked just fine in model space in shades of gray. I also did play with DV command before remaking the file and was able to get it to show up as shades of gray but had the background as black. I also tried a bunch of things with lighting to see if I was able to fix the problem. This did not work so I just used the solution of copy and pasted both the model and viewport into a new CAD file its fixed. I am not sure of what the cause it but it happen occasionally to a few of my files that was the 3rd one to do that.
