AutoCAD 2017 LT

When selecting an object using a command. I'm not able to see that I have it selected... Could someone tell me the setting to fix this b/c it's almost like I'm blind trying to delete overlapping lines.

Example:

First if I select anything, the lines / objects all look fine and natural. I can see the grips and everything in blues etc.

If I use the erase command and select a object. It highlights a dark grey... This I can get used to. But when a line is drawn on top of a line. I can't see it at all then... For instance if I have a cabinet and someone drew some extra lines for construction purposes. Now I find them later and want to delete them as they throw off my snaps. But I can't see them while lasso'ing in these areas. So I have no clue if they were picked.

Well the technique I use has been around since I started using AutoCAD 15 years ago until only recently seen the change... I don't know why this is so messed up now.

PS: This is a software change for me. Switched employment recently and trying to get my settings back to where they work best for me. And this is driving me insane. All I need is the command to remove whatever new feature Autodesk added to do this...

PSS: SELECTIONEFFECT and PRESELECTIONEFFECT don't have an effect on this.

Attached it an example of what I see...

Just realized this happens with the Erase command (probably specifically)... I was using PE and selecting lines to join for segments and noticed the lines I was selecting was growing blue and I can see them slightly better... The blue effect is seen with the Move command too. hmmm... there has to be some way to make this act normally again... I don't have a copy of the older version of AutoCAD to try this one to see the difference.

Attached is an example of it being blue. But I still want to fix the light grey or thiner line issue.

I am sorry that you are having this issue. I look forward to helping you with the problem.

Can you please attach a sample file where this is occurring? I have tried to duplicate the problem on my side but so far I am having no success.

I see that your video card is not on the recommended/Certified list so we might have to dig in a bit deeper on this possibility but lets start with your sample dwg first.

When will that something else show up and where will it show up? I understand that someone from Autodesk is not going to hunt down this thread if they ever fix this issue, but maybe an acknowledgement that they're aware of the bug and they're either working on it, or it's on their list of things to eventually get to would be nice. Maybe, despite it being a Friday, I'm in a slightly crabby mood; it just irks me to no end that often Autodesk's "answer" is: "If you don't like they way this option works, turn it off. Now go away, I have a to figure out a complicated new scheme to get more money out of you."

Good grief, I really am crabby. I should go relax for a while before posting any more.

Hi @OBERDACKER,

I can't speak for Autodesk, I am just a guy working here in the community. However, as I see defect-fixes, I do try my best to go back to threads that I have touched to see if there is a way to let customers know that something has progressed on the issue.

As you can imagine, with the complexity of the software and the large user base that all seems to focus on different processes, this can be difficult.

I will try to keep my eye on this one for you. Realize too, that is something is working as designed - even poorly- it isn't necessarily a defect.

I suggest that as you find certain features not performing the way you prefer, that you contribute in the AUGI wish lists as well as here:

Product Feedback page.

@john.vellek, I have run in to features that work, but not the way I'd like them to work and I appreciate that AutoCAD is a ridiculously complicated program. Sometime when I think about it I am amazed that it functions at all. I'm not trying to be a smart@#$ and maybe I missed something, but I have doubts that not being able to use "shift+space" to cycle through objects while using the erase command was intentional. In any event I will check out the links you provided. I try to review the AUGI wishlist fairly often and have added to it.

Thank you for your reply.

Hi, John,

I wanted to let you know that I used this information to stop this behavior in my AutoCAD. It was a life saver.

Now the bit I'm writing about. The link to the feedback doesn't work any longer. BUT, I did find where to leave feedback eventually.

Hope you have a good day!

Julie

@john.vellek wrote:

The links below go into more detail about the best ways to make suggestions.
How to provide feedback on Autodesk products
Raising enhancement requests for Autodesk products

Another great option is to participate in the AutoCAD Customer Council.
