AutoCAD has never been great with managing memory, but AutoCAD 2015 and 2016 are horrible. It won't let it go until you restart the program. I used to be able to go all day without restarting AutoCAD, but now I need to restart the program at least a couple of times a day to free up that excess memory. It's not even the memory that's an issue for me, because I have plenty of memory. It's that when AutoCAD gets to that point, it's far more sluggish.

Hi All

Currently using AutoCAD version 2016 on a 64 bit Windows 8.1.

My issue comes in the form of approxamitely 1.5 gigabytes of RAM being used when there is not even a single drawing open.

I came across this when editing things in the CUI and it was really laggy and blocky. I proceeded to open the task manager and there seems to be pretty much 1.5 gb of RAM being used.

There is no drawings open and this happens pretty much everytime I use autocad 2016. Is it just me that gets such high memory usage when no drawings are open or does anybody else get this?

Hi,

AutoCAD is active in your taskmanager as it shows 5.7% processor usage.

Let it work until it's down to 0% (so whatever was active it then seems to have finished), then close AutoCAD and start it again (the second start of AutoCAD in Win8.1x64 is 163MB on my system ... plain AutoCAD, so no vertical like Map 3D or Civil 3D).
