I just switched from 2018 to 2022 on my work computer and have been working to get my user preferences updated in the new CAD. There are two that I can't figure out (they may even be the same thing

1: I draw a polyline then grab one of the end nodes to shorten the pline. If I want to shorten the line by 5', I move my cursor somewhere along the line (where I can see my snap settings pull me to the pline) and type 5'. This used to shorten the line by 5', but now it makes the pline 5' long in total length. This issue does not happen with lines or mlines, just plines.

2: I think the best way to describe my second issue is with an example. This is happening for both lines and plines. If I have a 500' line/pline in model space and I am trying to draw a 10' line on top of this existing line with my snap settings (with the same orientation), I used to be able to snap to the line for my first point, move further along the line to a point where I could see that a snap setting was pulling me toward the orientation of the line (for instance, a nearest snap or a midpoint snap), then type the length I want and the new line would be created with the length I want along the orientation of the other line. Now what happens is that my second point doesn't jump to the second snap point. Instead, it uses my cursor location for the orientation to the second point. This is usually just a little bit off of the orientation of the first line since my cursor is close enough to show the snap points. I know there are lots of other ways to perform this same action (i.e. offsets or circles), but it would be nice to be able to draw lines along orientations again.

I appreciate any help anyone is able to give.

Try typing in # before you enter a number.

Thank you peterm. That worked to remedy the issues I was having. Is this new for 2022? I didn't have to type that for 2018.

It used to be that absolute measurements were standard and you had to type @ for a relative one.

More recently they swapped the default to relative dimensions and you had to type # for an absolute one.
