1/8" ball chain sprocket

I have a design of a small ball chain sprocket used in a motorized weight lift for a pendulum clock. My problem is that I can not make the sprocket holes deep enough because core of the sprocket has to have a cavity to accommodate the gear box of an N20 gear motor. In my present design I have only about 60% chain rap and it can slip. What I need is full rap of the chain but this would require a threaded like sprocket where the entrance is on one side and the exit is on the other. Imagine a spool with 1/16th" divots that enter on one side of the spool and exit slightly to the left or right of the entrance. The sprocket has 15 teeth and the chain is .1739" center to center on the balls or 69 balls per foot. I am just to new to Fusion to tackle this type of design. I do have some stl files of the sprocket as designed if needed.

Will Do. Thanks I think I have attached a stl file. This is the latest that I have designed and it is under test now. But I would still like to know how to put the sprocket on a spiral.

Hi @wz0mJCGJ6 STL files are difficult to work with as it pertains to your problem because they don't include any design history.

When you export the file, can you please export it as a Autodesk Fusion 360 Archive Files (.f3d) please? This will allow me to see your sketches and dimensions etc. to try to help you resolve your problem.

Kevin, Thank you for your help. I am pretty new to Fusion and I am not sure how to make a >f3d file. Is that format that I save on the left side of the screen? If so then how do I send that file to you?

I think I see how to do it, let me know if it did it correctly.

Hi @wz0mJCGJ6 Did you design this file in Fusion? I opened the file you attached, but it is just a stl file saved as a Fusion file.

Can you tell me the steps you took to create this part? Have you started to design this part from scratch in Fusion yet?

Kevin, Yes I designed this part in Fusion that is the only CAD that I have. I took the file right from the Fusion screen and and made a f3d from it. Did I do it wrong? Now I did make several modifications to the original design that may show up in the history.

@wz0mJCGJ6 Make sure you open the file that has the history. When you see the history, please export that file as a Fusion archive .f3d file.

Kevin, I designed the latest part with a double wide sprocket so that the ball chain can be wrapped one plus times. I have the sprocket under test and so far it is looking good.
