Hi Krongrach,

I was able to add a thread feature to the Cap, but the Combine feature fails to create the female thread feature on the bottle because the bottle body does not engage the cap. From the Inspect menu > Section Analysis shows that the 2 bodies don't intersect. You can toggle the visibility of the Analyses from the Browser Analyses folder.
Suggest lengthening the cap or bottle so the outside faces engage each other. Open the attached.f3d file to see the threads on the cap. The second Water Bottle Feeder - Modified Bottle.f3d shows the bottle engaged. I changed the direction of the arc and I had to thicken the shell thickness for the threads. I hope this give you some ideas on how to complete your design.

Hope this helps.

-Dan

Dan, I think the threads go on the smaller portion of the bottle.

Successvrzo3, the tool they are using is Create > Thread. Typically you wouldn't create matching threads by subtracting one from the other. Threads have fit tolerances and the OD thread on something generally has a smaller max(major) diameter than and internal threaded body (minor diameter). So I wouldn't use this as a "best practice" example. You should use the thread tool on both bodies with the same settings. Fusion will handle the ID/OD sizes for you. I am not sure why they want you to increase it 10% though.

And for the fluid volume you can create a plane at the bottom of the bottle opening and a plane at the fluid level, then use Boundary Fill found in the Create menu. Select the bottle and both planes then you will see check boxes on the screen. You select the check box in the center that will create the fluid volume and use "new body" as the operation option.

If you use the combined tool, like Matt mentioned, the threads are perfect male / female and don't allow for tolerance. You could look at using the Modify menu > Offset Face tool to offset the inside 2 or 3 faces of the female thread on the cap.

Are you doing the assignment as part of a course? Meaning did an instructor ask you to complete it? Or is this for self learning?

The end result should look like the attached pictures. You apply the thread to the Inside face of the feeder body and the outside face of the bottle as 2 different features. This will make the threads on each. Then you make a new body for the fluid inside using the plane method and boundary fill like I mentioned in an above post. There shouldn't be a point where you have to combine/join anything together.

I would start by just showing one of the bodies. The feeder. Activate the Thread tool from Create > Thread. Select the inside diameter to make threads where the bottle would thread into. You can only do one thread at a time. Try that and let me know if it does or does not work.

When you're creating the thread feature, ensure that "Modeled" is selected. This options creates a 3D thread, unchecked only shows a raster image.
