Can I group the members of my team based on Project?

User management for my classes is becoming difficult. When I work on the Fusion Team, I have so many present and past students listed, it is difficult to properly assign student roles to different folders because of having to make sure I have selected every student for a class, but none that are in other classes.

I am using the method of having students create their own Autodesk account and then I am inviting them to the team (I have to do this because some students already have Autodesk accounts from previous classes, but students do not always use their university email for their autodesk account.) As was done in the Educators video, I have assignment folders where the students have Viewer or Reader roles, individual student work folders where the students have Editor roles. It would be very helpful to choose a Group of students rather than having to select each individual student when assigning group-level roles for a folder.

Hi @David.GillXGQGU If you use the website for Fusion Team, in the Invite dialog box, you can paste multiple email addresses that are separated with a comma.

As far as custom groups, they are being looked into. If something becomes of it, the onboarding info will be updated.

Thanks,

Custom groups will be really important because of each person being limited to creating only 1 team. The comma delimited invitation reduces workload a bit, but doesn't really solve the problem. The issue is that I have many users who need different roles for different folders. Once I've invited them to the team, then I have to go set their role for each folder that has a role with privileges higher than their default role - and because I have some folders that are for development outside of others' viewing, the default role is very low level. For this to be a viable tool for running multiple project with many members, it will be important to be able to assign them to custom Groups. Thanks for the reply and for continuing to make Fusion a better and better product.

Thanks for the question David,

@dan.banach reached out to me to reply. Our teams are actively working on groups and custom groups for projects and folders.

We are hoping to deliver this in the first half of this year. Once we get a little closer to completing groups, we will announce in this forum.

Thanks for your patience and for providing feedback.
