In this open thread, we invite you to share your great ideas to improve our Communities, features you’d love to see, share event ideas, etc. Please feel free to share any topic, that you do not see already in the Feedback Hub, that you think should be there.

Please note that this thread is for feedback on the Community, not for product feedback.

We’ll be looking out for popular topics and common issues, and we’ll promote those to their own thread for a deeper conversation as needed.

Emoji's in Profile>Forum Preferences>Macros are not being displayed correctly lately

Wow. It's almost scary being one of the first people to create a new post in this new Community Feedback Hub.

Anyways, I have noticed the last few days that the emojis (specifically the 'thumbs up' and the 'light bulb' ones) are no longer showing up correctly when I insert them at the end of my forum posts (Inventor iLogic forum). They are within some HTML code in a couple of my profile macros. I've been using them successfully for months, and they have looked just fine. They are just simple, basic HTML emojis, with no special formatting. At the end of a forum post, when I first click on the 'Macros' tool (in the forum post toolbar, right above the text box) it inserts the formatted text and emojis, and they look just fine at first. But then after I click the [POST] button to finalize/publish the post, those emojis change to text (a word or two that describes the emoji). What's going on there? Can we get this fixed?

By the way, a great resource I've been using to help me with HTML related forum signature line and macro stuff is:

That is where I got the simple character code I used in my profile macro's, that have suddenly started acting oddly.

They have a 'Try it Yourself' page with a left side (source code), and a right side (results) layout that is awesome. Unfortunately, not everything that looks good there translates to looking good in my forum signature line or macros.

I have a few questions:

1. By what measure did the previous Community Feedback Boards "not work"?

2. Why was a lot of feedback left unanswered?

3. Why weren't loops getting closed?

4. By what measure did we not have a constructive outlet to provide feedback?

5. How are you fixing that here?

Hi @JDMather,

First, thank you for posting in the new thread! The two issues that you posted about (and @AllenJessup) have already been logged with the team and they are looking into the issues, but thank you for bringing them to our attention.

As for your other questions. The other boards were not working for a few reasons when we looked at them, they were overrun with topics that were product-specific feedback that did not belong in those boards, as mentioned it lacked closed loops, and engagement on our side, mostly due to lack of consistent community management, so they became stagnant boards. We felt that we needed a single new board that collected all of the feedback from our users in a more constructive and concise way. That is how this board will help. It will collect feedback in a more organized structure that will also have more consistent community management. These were great questions, I hope this explanation helped!

So feedback for all Autodesk products is now going into this single Hub? If so that seems like a really bad idea, the individual idea pages already felt like a useless void being yelled into.

How or will duplicate issues/ideas be handled? Have you looked at things like Launchpad and Home :: Bugzilla :: bugzilla.org seems the opensource communities tackled some of your issues here a long time ago.

Having links look the same as bold text is a terrible idea.

It's not obvious there's a link in this text, ~~at least have it underlined or something~~. Edit, underline is actually not a good idea, just tried it and then when you mouse over there's no clue at all it's a link.

Thank you for your feedback, but I wanted to clarify - this is not for product-specific feedback. This Feedback Hub is meant for feedback on the Community itself, for example, ways we can improve forums, our community social accounts, more or new events you would like to see held, etc.

How will it be marked as an individual issue solved (ACCEPT SOLUTION) if there are many issues within a thread (I do not see a way to start new threads in this hub)?

My first reaction is that Autodesk as too many confusing ways to get support and give feedback. This "Feedback on Community" thing is just another example of yet another confusing forum. IMO, your entire user-facing support forum system is in need of a major redesign by someone who has expertise on how to organize a system that is user friendly and intuitive. Yes, your forums are better than nothing, but so was Windows 95. Lots of the posts I make in the F360 forum are never resolved or even acknowledged - like talking into a dark hole sometimes.

I'm not sure if this query is relevant to improving the forums, but how can we find the meaning of the small, coloured, encircled, number that appears next to the id of each contributor? How is it determined? Is there a forums setting page where this kind of thing is explained?

Hi there.

Autodesk should just avoid using wrong tools for that task. Open a forum to gather problems from users, have dedicated people to look after them and CREATE PUBLIC TICKETS in a system where users can follow and discuss further. Link those tickets to thread, lock thread to encourage further discussion into that ticket and mark the thread resolved ONCE the ticket is solved.

Also, let the public ticket system open to direct ticket creation from people who know how to manage such entries.

One note, i do not mean "open your ticket system to us", just use a ticket system to publicly manage the issues reported, link it with your system. I don't want to know what you do in-house, but it is crucial that the management of issues is done properly. It is worse than using a spreadsheet actually.

My 2 cents, or whatever this is worth now.
