Global Community Games 2020! - EXTENDED!!

Hello everyone!

Great News Community! We have decided to extend the deadline for submission by two weeks. The new deadline is now Novemer 8th! So get designing and join the game!

We are pleased to announce the Global Community Games 2020! We will host two rounds of contests for the Design and Manufacturing industry in five language communities (English, French, German, Japanese, and Russian)! The games are happening in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC), and AutoCAD (ACAD) industry/product in the eight language communities also!

The first round is the Preliminary Competition - Design and Manufacturing. All the contestants must start from here to become the winner in your community. The top two from each language community will proceed with the Global Competition Final- Design and Manufacturing. They will compete with the 9 winners from the other language community to win the Championship.

*Note: It’s up to finalists to re-work on the original design for the Global Competitions Final to be their best and re-submit before the final deadline.

Rules:

Must be 18 years old and up at the time of submission of the design.
Must be an Autodesk Community Member
Residents or citizens of Brazil, Argentina, Poland, Romania, Italy, Turkey, or any US embargoed country will be excluded.
Must read and agree on Official Rules-D&M and the privacy statement.
By submitting your entry to this topic as a reply, you agree to the Contest Official Rules and to the use of your personal information as described in the Autodesk Privacy Statement.
One submission per person per Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC), Design and Manufacturing (D&M), and AutoCAD (ACAD). You cannot apply both AutoCAD English and AutoCAD German, but you may do so at both AEC English and AutoCAD German, for example.

How to enter your design:

It’s simple and easy. Just reply to this topic with your design.

Autodesk Community Managers and the Autodesk Technical Staff will be the judge.

For those who want to join without submitting the design:

Don’t worry, you can vote for the design you like using the “Like” button. You need to Sign in to participate. The votes won’t be one of the judging criteria, but we want to hear from you.

Finally, here's the Challenge!

Design & create a working assembly of a simple mechanism. Make it as simple or complex as you would like.

Use either Fusion 360 or Inventor.
Attach the assembly and all native files required to open the assembly as a ZIP file ( you may use Pack n Go, but please keep in mind the maximum file size to attach is 72 MB).
Embed into your submission a Screencast recording of the mechanism in motion to prove that it works.

OK, I'll start things off.

Here's my submission, it's a automatic jigging machine for ice fishing.

The mechanism is a very simple cam and follower.

To change the jigging action you swap the cam.

(the version with the fishing rod was too large to share here)

An old mate from university and I designed this mechanism for a small bench with an upper surface that can be lifted while the side surfaces open up giving you a table-like platform.

The entire bench is designed to use almost no prefabricated pieces (just a bunch of common bolts, nuts and washers). The rest can be cut from sheets of wood in a laser cutting machine.

The main file is called "Ensamble mecanismo.iam" by the way.

Just to clarify, the bolts, nuts and washers used were taken from the autodesk library. Also we used milimeters as units.

Was this meant to be an entry into the contest? The contest calls for the design of a working simple mechanism, including all of the files for us to open and inspect it, and a Screencast video showing the mechanism in motion to prove that it works.

Hi Chris,

Not sure how this competition works, but I am willing to have a go. This Fusion 360 CAD design is to build a prototype for a new type of computer user interface – a joystick mouse hybrid. To focus on the functionality, and bypass the electronic and communication complexities, the design has an optical mouse at its core. The process then becomes a mechanical translation from one set of human movements, to another set that the mouse receives and transmits to the computer.

@CGBenner I just wanted to make sure I know what that contest is about. It doesn't really mention the quilified entries. There are only guideline rules available on that page. I get it what ever. Honestly. My Laptop is in a normal working condition. I can't really record video. I don't really want to either. Not to mention. Some gallery projects that have video only make a full screen animation. I couldn't find the full instructions for video recording. It's not an entry. The questions there are questions. Thanks for the reply. I want to learn more about using Fusion 360 analytics and analysis tools. I watch the Fusion 360 tutorial videos.

I made several designs that are failing my Fusion 360 instructions anyway. I have too much time to figure out how some of the failed projects are going to work.

@CGBenner and @jhVWRLB 2 We have the same thing going on. There is this project for full on hands piloting control. It's made very light. And it is supposed to only be suspended in air. Or vacum. This will need more work anyway. Like sensors for rotation and revolution. Besides what pushing on top of it still has to find a function for piloting machines.

Sir, I do feel that the Submissions should have been made Private and not Public.........

Here, its very easy to see the Submissions of others, and Try to make something similar, or get an Idea of what we can make........

The File is Password Protected..... I will share it in Private Message..........

And Sir, I Don't know how to Start with a Video/Animation/Simulation...

We have been told to " Embed into your submission a Screencast recording of the mechanism in motion to prove that it works"... But I have not done any such video to show the Working model as a Video....

I have worked in a team, but my task was to design only.. and other members made such videos to explain its working..........

So, the file does not contain any Screencast or video to show that the mechanism is working....

Also, if you need some Additional parts to open the File, do tell, I will share them.....

For those who have been unsure of how to create a video of their entry in motion, here is information on Autodesk Screencast, a free screen capture video tool.

A video of your entry in motion IS required for a valid entry.

If you want sir, I can create a Screencast video but it will be a Still (motionless) video and not in motion....

I have created videos with Screencast Software, but I am still exploring how to create videos in motion.... And, so far, I don't know..... Pls can you give some alternate solution to this....?
