Hi @Anonymous

Firstly, I am glad that you are using Screencast for creating the classes.

Coming to the issue you are running into, if you are noticing missing audio in some parts, more likely this might be the hardware issue with your microphone. We haven't heard of missing audio in some parts while recording. So, the only thing I can suggest is for you to try with a different microphone to rule this problem out?

Also, am I correct in understanding that, you are able to go and re-record those missing audio parts and fix the issue?

Thanks, --Ram

I am currently working on an online course on Fusion 360 and have to record about 100+ hours of content as I am covering almost everything (except maybe electronics)- from sketching basics to generative design. I am using screencast as I really like the ability to see the keyboard inputs and find that very valuable, but whenever I am recording, I am losing short bursts of audio (~0.1- 5 seconds) at various intervals throughout my recording, leading to me losing ~10% of my audio which needs to be re - recorded. This easily doubles my time as I have to rewatch and edit the entire footage and make sure it syncs perfectly so it can be understood. I'm not sure if this issue is due to my headphones or a software bug, but if anyone could alert me to a solution, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Ram, I'll test it with another pair of headphones and come back to you.

The issue with the audio is not that it goes out, but cuts entirely, so I have to download and edit it in premiere pro and rerecord there instead, so unfortunately I cannot look at the audio graph to find the missed audio easily.

Sorry for the late reply, but I have tried with some other devices, but I am still experiencing a loss in audio (Though much less, thankfully - only ~4%). Anything else I can try?

Thanks a lot Ram. Here is the recording: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/8801fe56-cfc6-4cd0-94bc-4153a5f2e1a0

I recently also recorded another 10 minute clip, but this time there were fortunately no audio errors! Ill be recording more lessons regularly and Ill update you if the problem fixes itself, but for now it seems a bit random and I would really appreciate if you would be able to give me some insight. Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous

I took a look at the Screencast. Honestly, I couldn't make out, where the audio is being lost. In terms of recording, here is what we do. We first record the audio in wav format. After this, we convert it to ogg file. Converted ogg file isn't as good the wav file. Ogg files are lighter and can have some losses, but aren't that noticeable. Once uploaded, we mux the video with the audio, which is the final result and this is what you see online.

One thing you can try is... before uploading, you can listen to the audio file and see, if there is any loss in the audio file. The way you can do it is... in the recorder, you can invoke the Uploads dialog and "Pause Processing and Uploading". This will stop uploading the files until you resume uploads. If you record with Pause Processing, you can go to the local data location (In the settings dialog, at the bottom, you can see the local data location, where we save the files, before uploading). Play the audio file and see, if there are any losses here and let me know.

If there aren't any losses, we might be losing somethings in the post-processing. Please let me know, what you find.

But honestly, since the losses got better, with change in the hardware, I think it might be related to the hardware.

Thanks,

--Ram

Thanks a lot Ram - yes the recording have gotten much better. I have done a couple more recordings and have had no issue so far. Ill be sure to update you if there are any changes, but so far it all seems to be going smoothly for now. Thanks a lot, I'd probably not have been able to solve the issue without your help!
