One technique with CAD is to use layers to control what you want to see. So you can draw as much detail as you like in any drawing whether a plan or detail drawings. But place various level of details in to different layer groups. Then use vplayer freeze certain layer groups to not show up in a pspace vport. Then you won’t get a muddy mess of a drawing when you print the wall section vs a blowup of the same wall section.

AutoCAD LT for Mac:

I drew something simple in model space and now I want to zoom-in and add fine grain details and annotation in paper space. I locked the model space view in the viewport but is there a way to anchor the paper space work to the model space drawing underneath? Things happen sometimes and the paper space work can accidentally or even intentionally move.

nope...that's why the better way to keep objects coordinate is to always draw them in the same space

Paul: Thank you for your reply.

As an architect I'm sure you must understand that if you load a lot of detail into a small scale drawing (example, a 1/8"=1'-0" wall section) the drawing is very "muddy" when you print it out. That's why I draw the 1/8" drawing with information appropriate for that scale and then blow it up in paper space and complete it. Thus the problem of two drawings that I described.

Are you saying that it it better to redraw the detail from scratch at the desired scale?

I am self-taught and working solo so I can't simply turn and ask the guy next to me for help. That's why I rely on and am so appreciative of this community. Thanks again.
