Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi @giuseppe.sicilianoS5TER ,

I personally don't have such issue with HATCH command.

Does this happens with all drawings? Even with newly created with a few geometry in them?

Can you share one of the drawings in which HATCHing causes an AutoCAD crash?

EDIT: Please specify also which area of the drawing you want to hatch.

I'm using a Macbook Air with an M1 chip and since the installation of Autocad 2022.2.1, I've been experiencing a problem with the hatch command. It works just fine if use it with the "select boundary" option, but the software instantly crashes if I try to hatch with the option "pick points". I even tried to install the previous releases of Autocad (2018-2020-2021) and Autocad LT, but the problem has been occurring in all of them. It seems to be a common problem for all the students using the same hardware and software in my University. Does anyone know how to solve this?

I tried to draw and hatch in a drawing without complex items, and it appears to work fine. Thanks for the suggestion! Anyways, using HATCH even in a square or in a circumference in the template attached causes the crash of Autocad.

The reason for the crashes when executing the HATCH command in the attached drawing is the spline objects that form the logo.

AutoCAD doesn't like splines when it calculates hatch boundaries.

Try attached DWG - I converted all splines in it to polylines with PEDIT command.

If you prefer using the Hatch and Gradient dialog box, set the HPDLGMODE system variable to 1.

If you enter -hatch at the Command prompt, options are displayed.

Note:
To prevent memory and performance problems, the maximum number of hatch lines created in a single hatch operation is limited. However, you can change the maximum number of hatch lines with the HPMAXLINES system variable.
To maintain performance for hatches with non-continuous hatch lines, choose a predefined hatch pattern rather than loading and setting a non-continuous linetype. The HPLINETYPE system variable suppresses the display of non-continuous linetypes in hatches by default.
To control whether object snaps ignore hatch objects, add or subtract 1 from the OSOPTIONS system variable.
Choose from several methods to specify the boundaries of a hatch.

Specify a point in an area that is enclosed by objects.
Select objects that enclose an area.
Specify boundary points using the -HATCH Draw option.

The following prompts are displayed.

Pick internal point
Determines a boundary from existing objects that form an enclosed area around the specified point.

Select objects
Determines a boundary from selected objects that form an enclosed area.

Undo
Removes the last hatch pattern you inserted with the currently active HATCH command.
Settings
Opens the Hatch and Gradient dialog box, where you can change settings.

Regards,

Rachel Gomez
