Do you have to run rosetta 2, or are you able to run AutoCad for Mac now without it? (I'm thinking about getting a Mac with M1 chip but only if it can run autocad easily without any hassles.

Hi

Does anyone have experience of using autocad lt for macs on a new apple device with M1 chip? I am looking to upgrade my MacBook air and have been told that autocad for mac lt will still work but using some kind of adapter software called, I think rosetta 2. This is until autocad update their software.

Would be great to hear form anyone who is using this combination and to hear of any issues, before making a big investment.

Thanks

Rob

Hi Robert,

I tried AutoCAD for Mac on Mac mini M1 with 16 gb RAM an it runs on it as fast as on Intel based Macs.

If you are planning to purchase MacBook Air with M1 chip I don't recommend you model with 8‑Core CPU and 7‑Core GPU, I think 8-Core CPU and 8-Core GPU x model will be more reliable.

And, of course, 16 gb RAM will be better than 8 gb.

Hi

I have been running with rosetta 2 and no problems to mention since I bought the macbook air back in April. Occasionally have to log out and back into autocad but these instances are rare.
