Hi

I have a problem with lines and blocks exploding and spreading across all over the drawing when rotating a view for example.

Have anyone experienced something similar? I don't know if it has something to do with my blocks that I have created or something else.

I would be very grateful for all the help.

Best regards,

I use Autocad 2018 for Mac, version O.48.M.478.

The commands I use are simple: Rotate --> specify base point --> then drag and rotate. After that some of the lines from my walls and windows just shatter all over the drawing. Frustrating. =(

If AutoCAD for Mac supports parametric features, switch to the parametric ribbon(if it exists) and choose show all. There should be two buttons, one for geometric and another for dimensional. Parameters can do strange things when drawings are rotated. If that is the case, you can either delete your parameters or put the group in a block and rotate the block insertion. Otherwise, you could rotate the view instead of the objects.

There are no walls-doors objects in AutoCAD for MAC: are these just lines that you are just calling walls/doors, or did you get a file from another software? Perhaps it is exploded.

Share your DWG file with the problem right here for all of us to see for ourselves.

So, as John said, if you post a drawing with the problem, that would allow others to try to replicate the problem.

If the MAC doesn't have a ribbon, then it still might support parameters. It's extremely difficult to find an actual feature list for AutoCAD for the MAC. When you rotate objects with constraints in AutoCAD on Windows, you get a dialog asking whether to relax them so it's probably not constraints.

I am unable to replicate the problem with your 2D plan with 3D appliances blocks file, and the only dots I see floating away from the model are insertion points of some of your blocks, there is nothing else out there

Okey, let me know when you have tried on your Mac.

First I select the whole drawing (the floorpan), then write the command "rotate", then select a basepoint, and then drag and rotate the whole drawing, and that is where the lines spreads out accross the sheet. Not all of them, but some.

I use the exact same routine. Are you sure the drawing is still intact after you have rotated it? Does everything seem to be in place? I have to zoom out alot to the see where the other lines have spread.

Please see the attached images above for a better understanding of my problem.

best regards

Hi Lionel,

This issue results from the annotation properties. See the pic below, pick the problem blocks which can not be rotated you will see they are annotative blocks with "Match orientation to layout" checked. It means these blocks orientation are forced to match the drawing layout and cannot be rotated in model space. So please redefine these blocks and uncheck "annotative" . I believe it will solve your problem.

Thanks,
