Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Chaline,

You can try SUPERHATCH command:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACDMAC/2017/ENU/?guid=GUID-3D99150A-83A8-4066-B48F-C66D12E30EAC

Maxim

Which AutoCAD version you have?
SUPERHATCH is available since 2016 version.

>>>>then I want to choose a boundary that already
exists.
You can do this inside IMAGECLIP command: after you select an image to clip, you can choose "Select poly line" option and pick on existing closed polyline. The only one limitation is that polyline cannot contain curve segments.

Maxim

Are you a student?
Are you on subscription?

If you have AutoCAD subscription or you have valid student (educational) license , then you can install and use the latest 2018 version.
If you have perpetual 2015 license , than you need to purchase subscription.

Maxim

If you have valid student license, then you can download 2016 version from your students account page or using Virtual Agent:

https://ava.autodesk.com

(you need to enter "downloads" in the request field on the Virtual Agent page at first, then you will see version selector on the right side)

After installation you can activate 2016 version with the same serial as you have for 2015 version. The only difference is in product key, which is 777H1 for 2016 version.

Maxim
