Can not find PDF Printer

Hi, Just re-installed AutoCAD LT in High Sierra. Trying to find my plot to PDF printers - they appear in "File - Plot Syles" dialog box, but not as an available printer.

Hi William,

In 2017 version PDF printer presets you are looking for available only when you are using Batch Publish feature:

In 2018 version you can use them in Page Setup Manager and in Print window just like in AutoCAD for Windows.

I just re-installed AutoCAD LT for Mac Version N.51.M.5 (2017.2 update) on my Mac.

Previously the print to PDF was an available printer driver in AutoCAD.

It now no longer is. This was previously only an option in AutoCAD, so I don't think it was a MacOS printer, but it is possible that I am doing something wrong in the MacOS that is no longer making it visible.

My problem is that my available printers are small format - I would like to create large format (24' x 36", etc.) PDF's and I previously used the AutoCAD PDF printer for that. I could select the AuotCAD PDF driver previously from "add a printer". There also is no longer an option to create a custom size at the bottom of the printer paper size pull down menu of the available printers I do have.

I'm printing from model space and manually selecting a print area and drawing scale.

I fell stupid asking this - I'm pretty tech savvy but this one has me stumped because I have not had this problem in the past three years when I switched back to an Apple from the PC's I have been using for so many years.

I started using AutoCAD in 1985 (and made the cover article of Candence magazine in 1986 or 1987 with the company I was at the time) and use it occasionally for shop drawings, but I have not yet taken the time to master paper space. This is the first time I have posted a tech support question and I have purchased many different versions of AutoCad over the past 32 years.

Hi @Anonymous,

I go back that far with AutoCAD too but I wasn't published!

So, I made a quick Screencast video from my AutoCAD 2017.2.

I select PageSetup without even selecting a printer and can go to Manage Custom Sizes. If this is not an option for you, try installing a large format printer such as the HP Pagewide (select a dummy IP address to get it to install). Please also go to a layout tab (I know you said you haven't really worked that way yet) and see if you have additional options for the paper sizes in the page setup.

Hi @Anonymous,

I was thinking about your issue and I wanted to suggest one more thing. If you setup your plot and have everything configured for your PDF, then hit the Preview. From there you can hit the printer icon and select Save As PDF.

What you are describing is how I previously used to manage this.

Sorry for the delayed response, I had a medical issue with a family member last week and was out the entire time.

My problem at this time is that I am not able to select "Manage Custom Sizes" from the pull menu as I used to and create sizes that the printer does not support - see attached screen shot.

I am sorry about your family emergency and hope that everything is working out OK.

As far as the page sizes go, have you tried setting a different default printer in macOS and then configuring custom page sizes? Can you add custom page sizes in other applications? I am trying to determine if this is macOS, driver, or AutoCAD that is causing the problem. Also, did you try adding a wide format driver as I suggested? I have found that this is frequently the easiest way for some customers to get the appropriate sheet sizes.

Hi,

There must have been something wrong in my configuration file(s).

I uninstalled Autocad (and did not elect to save my settings), reinstalled it and I am now able to see the "DWG to PDF.pc3" driver as before.

The above suggestions were the work arounds I was using successfully in the past - but I was no longer able to access "Custom Page Setup"
