Hi Mack,

You cannot see:

- hidden hidden lines - because the layer with them is VPFrozen. It is VPFrosen by default as the AutoCAD Help documentation states: "Because drafting standards recommend not drawing hidden lines in sectional views, SOLVIEW freezes the View Name-HID layer." So you need to thaw the layer with hidden lines manually after you use SOLVIEW command.

- projection of ties - because the ties solids in your drawing are placed for some reason inside blocks and then inside arrays.

I attached drawing where I created new section (in red rectangle). I exploded "ties" to solids before performing SOLDRAW command and thawed HID layer after SOLDRAW command.

Hi,

Hopefully this is the right place to ask this question.

I'm working on a 3D assembly and starting to create my 2D representations for dimensioning and printing in the paper space.

I have gone through the motions of creating solview(s) of the assembly and then running soldraw on those solviews to generate the 2D geometry.

Soldraw does produce a 2D representation, however there are some oddities. Specifically, some items that should be hatched are not, there are some items which should be hidden yet show up on the visible layer, and there are some hidden items that do not show up at all. The first two oddities, because of their relative size and my desired end product are easy enough for me to deal with. The last item though is rather frustrating.

I know others through the lifetime of AutoCAD have had similar problems. I have tried some of the solutions that have beed posted, but none have seemed to work for me.

So, to clarify, the hidden lines do not show at all in the viewport in the paper space. I have tried different line type sizes and visual styles... and then performing a regenall, or deleting the view, making sure the new settings were applied, and creating a new view with SolView and SolDraw.

To give a better idea of what I'm doing and what I'm running into, attached are some pics. Hope someone has some ideas.

Regards,

Mack

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Mack,

Can you mark somehow on the screenshot the places where you expect hidden lines, but they don't show?
Or maybe it will be better if you will attach the drawing itself.

Maxim

Hi Maxim,

Below is another image - all layers turned on. For the SolView, I did a section looking from the west. In it, you can see that there are the projections of the holes and the yellow spikes on that 2D projection. However, they do not appear on the paper space. (Also, oddly enough, the ties, which are dark brown and difficult to see, also are not represented at part of that projection.)

Also attached is the drawing file itself.

Thank you for your help.

Mack

Those were the troubles.

I didn't realize about the hidden view being frozen, and I must not have been in the view port when looking at the layers. I think I had the view port selected, but not actually in it.

As for the ties being a block in an array. That would be my fault. The parts are all components from other files, set up to be imported into various assemblies. So I'm sure I created a block for the tie in that file itself. Then when I imported it (or copied it in, don't remember which), I used an array to copy and space out the number of ties needed for the assembly. In this case, probably doesn't need to be in a block or an x-ref, so easy enough to deal with by exploding it.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

Regards,

Mack
