Thanks for the replies about the ribbons.

So back to my original question, how do I do a camera animation? I looked
under 3D operations but there's nothing there. If the Mac version won't do
them I've just wasted $1500.

I recently upgraded to AutoCAD 2016 for Mac.

Install went fine and I thought I was good. The look was way different from Windows 2010 version I had been using but I didn't think much of it. Just figured the newest version combined with new OS it would look different. Today I wanted to do a camera animation. However I can't find the motion animation in render. I began researching trying to figure out where it could be. I keep reading I need the top ribbon and tabs to access it. That's when I realize even with reset to default I can't get my ribbon to show. I've put ribbon and toolset in the command line but no joy. Not really sure which way to turn at this point. I would hate to think my Mac version didn't have the camera fly thru that I use all the time. Any advice on how to get back to the original ribbon / toolsets across the top as well as how to access the camera animation greatly appreciated. I attached a screen shot to clarify what I have been working with.

CF- ONStage

Well I hate that I've effectively wasted a years subscription for the Mac
version when I could have gotten the Windows version and run parallels.
AutoCAD certainly should not be allowed to sell a Mac version with the same
name as the windows version when it is lacking so many features.

Careful, Photoshop isn't named differently!

You should speak with your vendor about the Mac version that you have. They might work out a way to deactivate your license for the Mac version and activate a Windows License for you. I'd almost bet on it!

As for Parallels... DON'T DO IT! Use the built-in Bootcamp. Apple has a great way of letting you dual boot your Mac as long as you have a licensed windows installation media. If it's a Macbook Air you will have to create a special usb for getting windows in there. Lots of info online about this topic online!

Again, the native Bootcamp method works so great vs. the virtual machine method of Parallels.

One more note... the 2017 version of AutoCAD for Mac get super close to looking like the Windows version. You just have to move panels around a little.

Let me know how it works out if you decide to get the license converted and switch over.

Good Luck!

First, thanks for the advise about Bootcamp vs Parallels.

As for Photoshop vs CAD, I don't care. I believe ALL software companies
should do a side by side comparison Mac vs Windows of their software so we
as users (not power users) would know the difference before we spend, (IMHO
a large amount of) money for software that may or may not do everything an
older version did when migrating platforms. A simple list of functions and
tools for Mac vs Windows would be simple enough to produce. When I'm crowned
emperor of the galaxy I'll correct thatŠ Don't hold your breathŠ

When you say the 2017 version of CAD for Mac is almost back to Windows
version, do you know, or can you say if it will give me the camera animation
features back?

MAC-Windows licenses are interchangeable within the same year version, no extra $$ needs to exchange hands, only thing you wasted was not investigating or testing it thoroughly before committing to Apple/MAC hardware.

Hi @Anonymous,

Apologies for any confusion here. To add on to @pendean, we want to make it as simple as possible for you to switch between AutoCAD for Mac and Windows, which is why you are entitled to cross platform licensing. We started the cross platform licensing with the 2013 version. You can download the Windows or Mac version from the virtual agent and use your license in either one.

There are some features, which are available in the Mac version, which are not available in the Windows version and visa versa. You can compare all of these features for different platforms in our side-by-side comparison charts here.
