Publish command problem

Hi all!

I have a problem with publish command. It doesn't let me to add drawings from network to Publish dialog box in order to batch publish them.

If I copy the files on my desktop, then it's fine and works!

Any ideas?

Working with Autocad LT 2015 for Mac now.

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Can you describe your network? Is it Windows based? Do you normally work from the network to get your files or do you work locally?

Are your files large? I know, a lot of questions and no solution. At least you have your workaround while we can develop a real answer for you!

Have you applied the lastest updates for your AutoCAD 2015?

What is your operating system?

Thanks for your reply!

Our network is Mac based, and I normally work from the network to get the files, edit and save them. My files are not big at all (650 KB), and my autocad lt 2015 is up-to-date. My operating system is: OS X EI Capitan Version 10.11.5

I have the same issue while working with sheet sets (project manager in acad for mac), too!

What do you mean by "It doesn't let me to add drawings from network to Publish dialog box"?
Do you see some alert from AutoCAD? Or just nothing happens when you try to add a file?

Do you have this issue from the beginning? Or it starts to show recently?

If the latter, than have you tried to reset AutoCAD?

HI @Anonymous,

A Mac network is actually not a supported configuration (Windows networks are supported). Do you receive error messages when you try to attach a file or does it not even let you get that far?

Are the files locked or are things extremely slow?

Do you know if your workstation is using AFS or SMB protocols to connect to your Mac server? Are your drawings using Xref's?

Just nothing happens when I try to add files. And I've been having this issue since the beginning! (I had tried Autocad LT 2013 for mac, before)

It doesn't let me get that far as you said! Just nothing happens! Things are not slow, usually!

My work station is using AFP to connect to server.. And lastly, my drawings do use Xrefs...

I didn't quite understand when you asked if the files are locked... Because I can edit them and save them on the network...

Hi neda61,

I am just fishing for ideas at this point. Since this is not a supported configuration there is basically nothing in my resources that detail any kind of fix for the problem.

I suspect that since AutoCAD is designed for Windows networks that it prefers SMB3 protocol for networks rather than AFP.

I know that you can force the client computer to use SMB and that might be a good first step in trying to find a workaround.

I have also been reading that a Windows File System is preferred over the AFS. Can you add a windows partition to your server drive and see if putting some files there will let them be accessible by Publish or Sheetsets?

Please let me know your results.

Thanks for your help!

Now I am checking out the other computer with Autocad LT 2013 in the office (it is Mac), and both Publish and Project Manager work on that computer!

It is connected to the same afp network. I also just realized that we are using NAS (network attached storage) from synology, if it is of any help!

Ahhh!

The NAS is likely your issue. I have not seen any workarounds for the Synology NAS . Many customers have issues with them. The only solution I have seen is to move the files off of the NAS.

You could still try a different format and the SMB but i have not seen any success with this configuration yet.

Oh, I see!!

But how come the Autocad LT 2013 works with it? I mean, I don't have the issue while working with 2013 version, within the same network...

It's puzzling me!

I am not certain why one version would perform better with this configuration than the other.

Does the server have any space where you could move some files onto it (copy them from the NAS)? I am curious to see if your workstation could then work properly with the files directly on the server (trying to remove the NAS from the equation).
