Technical Drawings (3rd angle projection) from 3D solid

Does anyone have a quick and clean "workflow" for producing 2D 3rd angle projection technical drawings from a 3D solid that works in AutoCAD for Mac 2016 that they would like to share with me?

Hi Nick,

Actually in AutoCAD for Mac you have only two options to create orthographic projection of 3D Solid:

1/ Using old fashion SOLVIEW command to create views of the model in Layout. Than you can use SOLDRAW to create flat projections from views created with SOLVIEW, This is partially automated method.

2/ Using FLATSHOT command which allows to create 2D projections and all preparations (creating views) and post processing (creating Layout and placing blocks, created with FLATSHOT to it) has to be done manually.

Unfortunately VIEWBASE command which was introduced in 2012 version of AutoCAD for Windows still is not available in Mac version of AutoCAD.

Hi Maxim,

I was afraid that was going to be the answer. Which way would you suggest?

I've never spent any time using paper space. Not really sure what useful pupose it serves. All my ploting templates I've created in model space.

Hi Nick,

If you want to automate the process, than you should consider to use SOLVIEW + SOLVIEW combination.
Of course VIEWBASE is the best way, but... you know.
There are a lot of video tutorials around about the way of using SOLVIEW and SOLDRAW commands, watch them - you will see that it is not extremely difficult way.
