When I load AutoCAD on my macbook pro, the cursor on screen does not register movement until clicked and then it is able to make lines smoothly.

The issue is that without being able to see where the mouse is going I cant draw efficiently. Panning and zoom still work as normal.

All I can imagine is that the macbook is struggling to recognize the drawing window in AutoCAD thus causing this weird lagging effect.

I have been running windows 10 on the mac to get around this so I know the macbook is capable of running the software well.

Have looked everywhere for a solution and I'm completly baffled by this issue.

Any help appreciated.

Kurtis

Hi,

>> I have been running windows 10 on the mac to get around this so I know the macbook is capable of running the software well.

So what operating system is it, that shows the issues then with the cursor/mouse?

If it's Mac-OS then you should better ask in the AutoCAD for Mac forum >>>there<<<.

Yeah ensured hardware exceleration is on etc. Also this is the standard 13 inch MacBook Pro retina, built in Intel graphics. Im pretty sure its not an issue with the graphics chip as many of my freinds run the exact same version on the exact same laptop.

New apple laptop hardware is updated like every 2 - 4 months. Unless you bought it around the same time period, from the same factory line, factory new, not used. I doubt it's exactly the same.

I had the same glitch with my mac autocad 2015 and I fixed it quickly, don't remember how though Didn't have to reinstall or anything like that.

I have a few questions that may present a few more ideas

- Are you using the Trackpad? If not, does it behave the same way with the Trackpad?

- If you are using a mouse, which one (are its drivers up to date for El Capitan)? If you have access to a different one, please see if it behaves the same way.

- Do you have a graphics tablet installed and/or plugged in?

- I note you are also a Windows user. Do you have any 3rd party mouse utilities installed to change mouse behaviour?

If you are using anything other than the Trackpad, have a look in the System Preferences for any options that may alter mouse behaviour. While I don't have El Capitan, 3rd party control panels could be along the bottom line. Also, have a look in Trackpad, Mouse and Accessibility (and I think OSX also has a graphics tablet/pen one too) for anything that can be toggled and tested.

AutoCAD also has several settings that may or may not help the matter.

- You can reset AutoCAD for Mac to defaults (scroll down for Mac instructions)

- In AutoCAD Preferences under General, try toggling off OpenGL (in the Graphics section)

- In AutoCAD Preferences under Cursor and Selection, try changing colours, length and sizes of the crosshair

- In AutoCAD Preferences under Units and Guides, try toggling coordinate display, autotrack settings and fields

- In AutoCAD drawing space, try toggling dynaimc input, polar tracking and object snap tracking

Hopefully there is something here that can assist alleviate your problem until a proper solution is found.

Yeah the crosshairs don't show at all until the screen is clicked, as you can imagine this makes drawing impossible.

I have also completed a full fresh install of both my OS and AutoCAD and neither of these steps made any difference.
