Sorry this is probably a very basic question but I am trying to purge some unused layers from my drawing and the help files tell me to:

Click the Application button Drawing Utilities Purge.
The Purge dialog box displays a tree view of object types, called named objects, with items that can be removed from the drawing.

To purge unreferenced layers, use one of the following methods:

To purge all unreferenced layers, choose Layers.

To purge specific layers, expand Layers, and choose the layers to be purged.

Click Purge.

This is all sounds great but where is the application button?

I've attached a screenshot of my screen.

thanks

Lucy

Hi,

You are reading help documentation for Windows version of AutoCAD.
In AutoCAD for Mac PURGE command exists only in command line version:

http://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/AutoCAD-MAC-Core/files/GUID-D68BA47B-A79D-4F58-9715-0569CC24BCEF.htm

In order to use PURGE command in AutoCAD for Mac you need to type its name at the Command window and than what you want to purge from the options in the command line.

And in AutoCAD for Mac there is no Application button as in PC version.

Thanks for your help Maxim.

I have tried this and it works, is it possible to purge multiple items in one go? I've got about 50 layers to purge.

Additionally can you tell me how to identify in the help files what is for Windows and what is for Mac. I've attached another screen shot of the page I was using that referrence the application button.

You can purge all unused Layers at once if you answer No to the question "Verify each name..."
You can also use wildcards when AutoCAD prompts "Enter name(s) to purge <*>:"
For example you can purge all unused layers witch names begins with number 1 - you need to use 1* wildcard for this.

Maxim
