topic Transparency texture rendering black in 3ds Max Shading, Lighting and Rendering Forum

I'm trying so hard to figure out these kind of problems out on my own but, it's just so stupid to me now.

I have some eyebrow and eyelash textures with transparency. Also I have some hair with transparency and that renders perfectly except for one of the hair objects on the back of the neck which is having the same problem as the eyebrows.

Here's what happened:

- I merged a character model into a scene

- I rendered it to check some lighting and everything on the character was perfect

- After posing the character and rendering, I get this...

Here's what it's supposed to look like and what it looked like when I first rendered and before I posed it.

I did absolutely nothing to the textures or any lights. I'm using mental ray with the "recommended" sampling mode.

EDIT:

The object casting shadows onto the face is the actual issue, not the transparency. I just need to know how to disable just the one object's shadows.

Unchecking the shadow casting boxes in the properties never helps for whatever reason.
