Hello there!

Realistic texturing of your heart model may be a bit advanced but certainly not impossible. First gather up some reference material and have it handy. Check out the texturing on the heart models over at TurboSquid for example: https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?keyword=heart

Now you need to learn about unwrapping your model. Max has unwrap tools to use or there are 3rd party tools as well.

https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+unwrap+my+model

Next you need a paint program - this can be Photoshop, or similar, or it can be something like Substance Painter.

Then the materials can be applied to your model and rendered.

So, yeah, a bit of work and learning but very rewarding when your model looks like you want it to. 🙂

Good Luck!

Daf

Not sure about heart textures tbh. You will have to search around the texture sites or ask that specific question in some of the 3d forums. Try this google search to start...

https://www.google.com/search?q=3d+texture+maps

Daf

Fun task 🙂

link above guides to https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-human-heart-anatomy-model-1283134
Thats a fair refference.

You need to be able to analyse a situation, which can be any and break it down into seperate manageable components to be able to do something like this.
You could take the heart to an external application and start by refining your model with small rivers and cracks, leave out the finer irregularities, or do them up to you, then paint masks, and colors and SSS masks.

You can also attempt to fine tune your model in MAX with the paint deformation in Editable poly, your model needs to be fairly dense, then you can paint in the depressive rivers you see, and add the plamages.
Once that is done and your model is tuned, you can start to work in displacement and bump mapping, using procedural constructs and finally paint the colors in and tweak it all up with some nice Arnold Random walk 2 SSS which just looks way too awesome.

Use the viewport canvas for painting masks and actual colors, provided you give yourself a nice big resolution on the texture, you can paint in very fine details, you can also rough things up and use procedural constructs to break edges up and make a basic stoke look very detailed.
Get a sense of the fat and the blood and more red plamages, and zoom in and try visualize which part is the BOTTOM layer, I can tip you, the big fat areas are deep and the blood is the top coat, so you start out by painting the entire model in some area "fat color" and layer blood, and you layer it in the cracks as seen on the image.

In general its quite important that you have a sense and natural lust to work with details.

For masks, try observe and understand the different materials roughness parameters ( how does the fat move, how does the meat move ), some parts are more matte and some are more shiny, try understand why they are that and try get a feel for the actual substance.

Its quite important to be able to deconstruct a case in all its details before you begin, no tutorial is needed, you either can do it or cant, and if you have problems with having a starter overlook, start out by breaking the stuff out on paper. I need to do this, that and that and that. And if you dont know how to break out the problem on paper and define your tasks in small pockets or circles, start over and try again till you can.

There is no quick fix, except bying a premade model, or work hard on all the aspects and produce it your self.
