I tried loads of different nodes and may have got it, under: 'Maps, OSL, Math, Color components'. It seems to work.

Does anyone know if this is correct or perhaps there's a more simple way of doing it?

I'm doing some texturing for an Unreal video game, we're using the packed texture method where the texture file has channels containing: R - AO G - Roughness B - Metallic

What node do I need to run these through to get them understood by Max? I tried out various RGB nodes and the OSL: Bitmap Lookup (which looked like it was going to work) but can't figure this one out.

Yes, that is the correct way to do it. One image comes in, and you split the channels into different outputs.
