Hello everyone, I need your help,While i am working my first project (rendering studio with lights and animations) i set my Render Settings in High Quality, so when i render Picture it needs 20 Minutes to Render. i want to make animation i set my Vray Camera with Path and also add Populate for video. everything is ready for render but my video has 800 frames and IF render needs to render one Photo 20 Mins , it means that 3Dsmax needs 20x800=16 000 Mins to render? that Means 5 Days to render? 😄 what can i do? Reset Vray setting to standart when it needs 2-3 mins to render every photo? but i dont have High Quality video? (also i have a question One photo means one frame) ? Please Help me, Thank you!!!

you need to read and study fist the vray manual for you to understand a lot of things regarding vray..
have a look in here: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3MAX/Rendering+a+Walk-Through+Animation

some pointers
- doing animation specially with vray needs a stronger machine

- vray is scene dependent, meaning everythings matters and have effect on vray, ( memory, graphics card, models, number of lights, textures etch)

- i dont use raw populate models in vray....in my case, i convert them to vray proxy first before using it in vray, its consume lots of memory if it is in raw mode (not proxied) . Proxy tutorial can be found here: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3MAX/Proxy+Objects+%7C+VRayProxy

- check your models, might need some optimization, or need some proxying again ( same models in the scene)

- check your textures....maybe some textures have high resolution while the object is just small object.
- check subdivision settings and check GI settings

for your last question....yes, one picture is one frame

I also agree with 'rendermaster' even tho transforming to proxy geometry not necessary affect render time. it optimize things file size for sure but during rendering time, there are other factors that can reduce your time of processing.

Having said this, depending of your final output resolution, I imagine 720 at least, talking about 20 min a frame seems OK. it can be less and for sure it can be more. but 20 min seems pretty much standard for a quality image. one thing you could do is reduce your frame rate, instead of using 30 FPS you can use 24 FPS, the video motion will seems softer, but over all you won't reduce quality.

You may need to see if you can upgrade your computer, or use other computers to render that animation. 2 extra machine will speed things up, or more.

Were I work I have access to 30 extra machines and usually I can output animation if I leave all of them rendering during a weekend. But still this is not enough sometimes.

Also there are some cloud render companies with very affordable prices that can turn around your project in a very short time.

For instance rebusfarm, or theranch to name some.

Try to review your scene, optimize what you can, material wise and Gi sample wise and see if you can reduce your rendering time. Also choose 24 FPS and see if that work for you. If you still are not there, then you need more machines, sadly that's the nature of the beast.

best luck.

Fco.

"One Question,Optimization will Reduce Objects Quality?"
its depends on the quality of your model...some models after optimization remains as it is after render, some are not...you need some trials and testing
