you said you bought this scene?? first, you need to know what render engine this scene was prepared.

When you mentioned Common setting, that sounds to me to Scaline render, this scene may be designed to work with V-Ray.

in that case, you need V-Ray to properly work on this scene.

So im trying to light a scene with a boat, but no matter how I set the lights, which lights i set or if I turn the lights off, the light in the scene is the same.
Have anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to solve it?
Im not new to lighting a scene, but I'm diffently new to this problem.
Im using vray lights btw, also tried with a Vray sun.
On the attached photo you can see the difference in lighting with vray lights and with a vray sun. The sun and vray light were placed in different spots.
- Anna

Hi,

I hope I am correct in presuming that you are talking about the scene lighting rather than a finished render.

Have you made sure to select 'Illuminate with scene lights' instead of 'Illuminate with default lights'?

There can be various reasons for that, can you please send your .max file to me so i can take a closer look so i can give you a specific answer instead of guessing?

I also have a similar issue. There are no lights in the scene. The render looks like its on some kind of diffuse channel. The floor also looks like its emissive, which its not. Help?

UPDATE:

I was looking in the Render Setup window and under 'Common - Advanced Lighting - Use Advanced Lighting' was ticked on. I unticked it and that fixed the issue. Why would you need this option and is it usually on by default?

I bought this scene online to study. Could there setting be transferred over?

Side issue. The floor is still emissive. I don't see anything in the material that looks off. I created a standard vray light to the left.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your scene.
Unfortunately I no longer have V-Ray installed so I can not really give you help with this issue.
Perhaps another member, with V-Ray, might be able to help you?

Regards,
